The Mummy MOT®
What is a Mummy MOT?
A Mummy MOT is a specialist postnatal assessment designed to support your body’s recovery after pregnancy and birth - whether you’ve had a vaginal delivery or a caesarean section. It’s a thorough, yet gentle, session that looks at how your body is healing, focusing on your posture, abdominal muscles and pelvic floor.
Following your assessment, you’ll be guided through a personalised plan, including targeted exercises and practical advice, to help you rebuild strength, restore confidence, and return to the activities you enjoy - safely and at your own pace.
It’s very common to experience changes in your body after having a baby. Many women notice weakness through the core and pelvic floor, and some may have a separation of the abdominal muscles (diastasis recti). These changes can contribute to symptoms such as back or pelvic pain, a feeling of instability, or bladder and bowel concerns. While common, these symptoms are not something you have to simply accept.
A Mummy MOT is typically recommended from around 6–8 weeks postnatal, following your GP check. However, it’s never too late to seek support - we regularly work with women months or even years after birth who are still experiencing postnatal symptoms.
What’s included in a Mummy MOT session?
Your initial consultation is tailored to you, but will typically include:
A full postural assessment
Assessment of your pelvic floor muscles (optional, with your consent)
Abdominal examination to check for any separation
Screening for bladder, bowel or sexual health concerns
Practical advice for day-to-day activities, such as lifting and feeding positions
A personalised rehabilitation programme based on your goals and lifestyle
A written summary of your assessment and next steps
If you’re feeling unsure about your recovery, or simply want to feel stronger and more confident in your body again, please get in touch.
